Kick Bright Gets Chalky

Kick Bright will be attending the Community Chalk Art Festival organized by the Gateway Orlando District on Saturday March 30th from 10am – 5pm. We will have our buttons of all the nations of the world available! Come represent and celebrate wherever you are from!

From the press release:

This is a community building event that will allow our residents to experience art as it emerges. This cultural event is called “Faces and Places of the World” and is designed to enhance understanding and appreciation of our community’s diversity, while simultaneously providing exposure to the arts. This form of performance art began in 16th century Italy with itinerant artists, many of whom had been brought into the cities to work on the huge cathedrals. When the work was done, they would often recreate the paintings of the Madonna onto the pavement. They became known as I Madonnari. The creation of a large and intricate chalk painting may take hours or days to complete, only to be gone after the next rain. The artists will tell you that the process is more important than the finished piece and that spectators are a vital part of the performance as they view the work in various stages.

This is a one day event from 10 AM to 5 PM in partnership with Halifax Health – Hospice and the Community Improvement Initiative. The beneficiary will be for BeginAgain Children’s Grief’s Center, a program of Halifax Health – Hospice, because every child deserves a place to grieve and help to heal.

There will be food trucks and live performances that represent cultures from all over the world. This event is free to attend and is open to the public!

Tune in to NPR Friday afternoon around 4:50pm to hear the organizer speak about the event!
